Ananta Basudev Temple Shri Ananta Vasudeva Temple dedicated to Lord Krishna, an avatar of Lord Vishnu is located in BhubaneshwarThe temple was constructed in the thirteenth century, and the complete murtis of Shri Krishna, Bhagwan Balarama and Devi Subhadra are worshipped there. Prabhu Balarama stands under a seven hooded serpent, Devi Subhadra holds Jewels pot and lotus in her two hands keeping her left foot over another jewel pot, while Shri Krishna holds a mace, chakra, lotus and Sankh(conch). The temple dates back to the period of Chandrika Devi, the daughter of Anangabhima III, during the reign of the king Bhanudeva.

The Murti’s found in the garbhagrha (sanctum sanctorum) of the temple have complete structure unlike the images of the Jagannath Temple, Puri. Here the Trimurti’s (idols) are made of black granite stone, rather than neem wood, as seen in the Puri temple.
