Man Mandir Ghat, located just 5 km from Varanasi Junction, is a significant and picturesque spot along the banks of the Ganges River. Positioned to the north of Dasashwamedh Ghat, it is one of Varanasi’s essential ghats and a must-visit destination for tourists.

Originally called Someswara Ghat, it was constructed in the 16th century by Raja Man Singh of Amer and later renamed in his honor. Raja Man Singh also erected a splendid palace here, notable for its intricate window carvings. The Archaeological Survey of India now maintains this historic site. From the palace terrace, visitors can enjoy a breathtaking panoramic view of all the ghats in Varanasi. Additionally, an observatory known as Jantar Mantar was established atop the Man Singh Palace in 1710 by Sawai Jai Singh II.

On the western bank of the Ganges, Man Mandir Ghat is adorned with several temples, including Rameshwara Temple, Sthuladanta Vinayaka, and Someswara Temple. The Someswara Temple is an exact replica of the Someshwara lingam in Somanath, Gujarat, attracting numerous Hindu devotees who come to offer prayers.
