About
Gangaur Ghat is a significant ghat on the shores of Lake Pichola in Udaipur, Rajasthan, near Jagdish Chowk. It’s closely associated with Bagore-ki-Haveli, a popular tourist attraction. The ghat plays a central role in the celebration of Gangaur, a major local festival in Rajasthan. During the festival, a colorful procession begins from the City Palace, featuring palanquins, chariots, bullock carts, and folk artists.
The parade winds through various parts of the city, eventually reaching Gangaur Ghat. Here, the idols of Gan and Gauri are immersed in Lake Pichola. Women, adorned in traditional attire and jewelry with henna, gather at the ghat for worship and to witness the idol procession, which is then carried on boats for further rituals on the main Gangaur boat in the lake.
