The Pancha Rathas is a part of the Group of Monuments in Mahabalipuram, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Group of Monuments in Mahabalipuram comprises several ancient temples, rock-cut caves, and structural monuments in and around the town of Mahabalipuram. The Pancha Rathas is one of them.

The monument showcases the craftsmanship and artistic achievements of the Pallava dynasty of the 7th and 8th centuries. As the name suggests, the Pancha Rathas complex has five monolithic structures, each carved out of a single granite rock formation. Each of the five monuments resembles a Ratha (chariot), named after the Pandavas. The architecture and sculpturing are exquisite!
