About
The Church in North Goa is a very old and important place, even though it looks ruined now. It is on a hill and gives a beautiful view of Old Goa. The church was first built in 1619 to keep a special cross, but it got old, so they rebuilt it in 1674. It looks like the churches in Europe from long ago.
They used a special kind of stone and lime for the church. There was also a convent nearby where people came to listen to religious speeches. But over time, both the church and the convent got very old and fell apart.
The special cross from the church was moved to another chapel in 1845. Even though the church is now in ruins, it reminds us of the history and beauty of Goa. People come to see it and enjoy the pretty view. It’s not used for worship anymore, but it still has a fascinating story that attracts visitors.
