The Saraighat Bridge is the first rail-cum-road bridge built over the Brahmaputra River in Assam. Inaugurated in 1962, this iconic structure is a significant transportation link connecting Guwahati with North Guwahati and the rest of the northeastern states. The bridge is named after the historic Battle of Saraighat, where the Ahom army achieved victory over the Mughals.
