The temples of Shree Shantadurga and Shree Mangesh, two of the most revered patron deities of the Hindu Goud Saraswat Brahmin community are located in Kavlem and Mangeshi respectively in the Ponda district of North Goa. This avatar of Shree Jagdamba devi which had come to make peace [Shanti] between Shree Vishnu and Shree Shiva, came to be known as Shree Shantadurga devi.

The temple, built in the early 18th century by the Marathas, has a striking red façade and an intricately carved dome, along with a stunning deepstambha (lamp tower). The inner sanctum houses the idol of Shree Shantadurga, who is depicted holding serpents representing Vishnu and Shiva in her hands, symbolizing her role as the goddess of peace and mediator. The temple is also famous for its annual Jatra, a grand festival celebrated with much fervor, where thousands of devotees gather to seek the blessings of the goddess.
