Maharaja Hari Singh Park was inaugurated with great fanfare by the Honourable Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti Sahiba along with the Deputy CM Dr.Nirmal Singh Ji on the banks of river Tawi. A statute of the late Maharaja Hari Singh Ji was also inaugurated on the ocaassion along with a library for the benefit of the general public and also the people visiting the park .The entire project has cost 5 crore rupees and has come to fruition due to the efforts of the MLA Jammu East Rajesh Gupta. The Maharaja Hari Singh Park on the banks of Tawi in the heart of the city of temples remains a play ground.

The former union health minister, Ghulam Nabi Azad had promised a waker’s park at the site three years ago. He even named the proposed park after the last Dogra ruler, Maharaja Hari Singh. Ironically the Jammu Development Authority, according to sources invited tenders for the proposed park but later it was learnt that a portion of the land had been leased out to a party for construction of a hotel. The locals have taken serious exception to the failure of the former state government and the incumbent government of failure to start work on the project.
