The Mahatma Gandhi Udyan, formerly known as Bund Garden, is located on Bund Garden Road in Pune’s Sangamwadi area. Built after the completion of the Fitzgerald Bridge (also known as the Bund Garden Bridge), which crosses the Mula-Mutha River, the garden was named after the bund (dam) on the Mula River.

Mahatma Gandhi Udyan, as the bridge leads to the Gandhi National Memorial in Pune’s Aga Khan Palace. The memorial once served as a prison for Mahatma Gandhi, his wife Kasturba Gandhi, his secretary Mahadev Desai, and political activist and poet Sarojini Naidu. It houses Gandhi’s ashes and acts as the headquarters for the Gandhi National Memorial Society.
