Mohanlal Sukhadia University (erstwhile Udaipur University) at Udaipur is a state university established by an Act in the year 1962 to cater to the needs of higher education in southern Rajasthan with over 2.25 lakh students. The university is located in the Aravalli hill region which is largely dominated by tribal population. Endowed with rich cultural heritage, natural resources and beautiful landscapes, Udaipur is a world famous tourist attraction.

Since its inception the University has striven to maintain excellence in teaching, research and community service. Great emphasis has been laid on inculcating scientific temper, maintaining high ethical values and keeping pace with the emerging areas of higher education. The University has ensured overall socio-economic development of all sections of the society by encouraging greater accessibility and inclusive approach, making it the most preferred institution for higher education, learning and research.

Conscious of its social responsibilities, the University has played an important role in the socio-economic development of the backward, deprived and socially challenged people through its various extension activities. The UGC-sponsored “Centre for Women’s Studies” and the “Population Research Centre” supported by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare established in the University have made significant contributions in the field of women empowerment, gender equality and child development.

The University can take pride in having ICT enabled functioning in most of its functional units involved in teaching, learning, research, administration and governance. A very strong infrastructure for e-libraries has enhanced the academic growth of the faculty and students.
